Welcome, Future!
I admit it, I couldn’t resist and ordered an iPad early, from the US. Waiting for two, three more weeks until it gets launched in Canada? I can’t. It was too tempting. I started saving for it the moment it was announced and went to order it last week. Well, it arrived today. My hands are still shaking and my heart is pounding at 130 beats per minute, and yes, I do need to get a life. But man oh man, it is a thing of beauty. I have only played with it for a few minutes, and I am already thinking this is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Phenomenal. Beautiful. Sturdy and well made. EASY TO USE. Fast as a rocket. So useful. And did I say, easy to use? So far I looked at the built in Calendar application (OMG it’s Chester’s birthday today, I forgot), the Address Book (so handy), the Safari browser (the internet in my hands!!), the Epicurious cookbook application (I am going to be a chef) and the Photo app (it works as a digital frame, too). I also read almost a whole chapter of “Winnie the Pooh” which is included as the only ebook that comes bundled with the iBook reader. (Seriously, a multi billion company, and they could include whatever they wanted in this thing and what did Steve Jobs pick?? Winnie the Pooh. He’s not trying to be cool. He just is.) The Notebook app is as big as a real paper notebook, but you never run out of paper, and the keyboard is really easy to use. Youtube on this thing is amazing, your own little TV. I can’t get over how beautiful the screen is, and how easy it was to set up. Turn it sideways, it turns with you. Features change just by rotating the thing. I could go on and on and on, and I’ve only used it for a bit!!
My whole family is going to use it for sure, all the time. We will have battles going on over who is hogging it, that’s a given. Just as a side note, I have no Wifi problems (so far, knock on aluminum) and the fingerprints are a non-issue for me. Mobile Me certainly rocks for the synchronization of calendar items, phone book entries and emails, without every having to connect it to a computer or phone via cable. I can hear the voices already, “Nah, I don’t need one”, “Whatever”, “I have an iPhone already”, “I have a laptop”, “My netbook is better”, but I just say, try one out. It’s a game changer.
Gotta go… still lots of exploring to do…
